Photoshop Shapes?
Photoshop shapes are Adobe Photoshop’s ( PSP ) answer
to not being a vector based program. While Adobe Illustrator
is clearly better suited to making vector based diagrams,
the PSP shapes functions are vector based. This means that
you can easily scale them to pretty much whatever size you
need. Also, once you make your image, you can save it in a
vector based format such as EPS or you can easily import your
PSD file directly into Adobe Illustrator.
Manipulating Shapes:
You can either use Photoshop shapes in the form that they
come in, or you can convert them by using the tools to change
paths. Tinkering with the shapes with tools such as the convert
path tool allows you a great deal of flexibility with shapes.
Combining these features with the transform functions of PSP
and there’s literally no limit to what you can create.
There are thousands of free shapes available online –

Photoshop community has to share.
Creating Shapes:
Adobe Photoshop also has the ability to draw shapes. While
getting the hang of a drawing tool is somewhat complicated,
you can create vector-based shapes within Photoshop.
So what’s the bottom line? No - Photoshop is not a
purely vector-based graphic design program – but YES
Photoshop can be used to create vector based images. If you
take the time to learn the intricacies of Photoshop you will
find it’s an extremely versatile tool Good luck with
it and we hope the links in our directory help you in your
quest to become more proficient with Photoshop.
